Telly presenter Diana Ser and public relations veteran Jansen Siak have kickstarted #ShowWeCareSG, a new charity campaign to raise money for the National Council of Social Service's (NCSS) Invictus Fund.

The fund, which is gear up via NCSS' fundraising and date arm Community Breast, volition channel all donations to 80 social service agencies that deliver critical services to vulnerable groups in the community.

The beneficiaries will include the elderly, families in need, children with special needs, youth-at-chance and persons with mental wellness conditions or disabilities.

Too raising money, the organisers hope to rally Singaporeans to act "so that no one is left behind," said Ser.

"Truth is, the least privileged are often the ones who are the hardest hit," she told CNA Lifestyle.

Siak and Ser – forth with her husband, former Mediacorp actor James Lye – have all donated their S$600 government payout. The trio hopes this will spur on those, who can comfortably afford to, do the same.

"When I was immature, I witnessed my mother crying and when I asked why, she said she only had 10 dollars to feed me and my two siblings for the week," shared Ser.

"I kind of know what it is like when the family is trying to make ends run across. I hope this fund raising can assistance vulnerable Singaporeans such every bit the low income, the elderly and people with disabilities."

Siak and Ser have reached out to eighty local celebrities and personalities to help spread the word, including Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, Stefanie Sun, Sharon Au, Yeo Yann Yann, Michelle Chia, Cynthia Koh, Andie Chen and Yoyo Cao.

Siak said that the pair chose NCSS' Community Chest because the Invictus Fund was a slap-up match for their cause.

"We went for it, given that it is a new fund that needs more than sensation and support for," he said.

Added Ser: "Giving.sg also offers a gratuitous platform for fund raising. This means 100 per cent of the donations go to charity, which is a very important consideration for us."
